Dana White 'Really Confident' UFC Will Take Event to Japan in 2011
LAS VEGAS -- The UFC has not hosted a show in Japan in over a decade. The promotion hoped they would be heading back after acquiring PRIDE in 2007, but a series of roadblocks has kept them out.Suddenly, however, it seems like the doors to the destination are opening, and UFC president Dana White said he believes the UFC will be hosting a show in Japan in 2011.
"Everything that needs to happen to go to Japan is falling into place so far," White said. "So it's looking good. It's on our calendar this year."

It may not have been the Super Bowl of MMA events, but at least UFC 126 has one thing over football's climactic game: it didn't force us to watch Fergie mime human emotions for an extended period of time.After a main event that resembled the finish to 'Karate Kid' just a little more than we were prepared for, it's time to break down all the action and see who were the biggest winners, losers, and everything in between after Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Biggest Winner: Anderson Silva
Admit it, when he spent the first couple minutes floating around the cage and blocking invisible punches, you thought to yourself: 'Dear God, not again.' Then he front-kicked Vitor Belfort in the face and you leapt three feet in the air while proclaiming him the greatest fighter to ever live. Such is the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with any Silva fight. Beating Belfort might not be the crowning jewel in his already stellar career, but doing it in action movie fashion can only add to his mythical status. Even if he retires tomorrow he'll be remembered as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. Although if he retires before fighting GSP - who, one hopes, won't screw things up by losing to Jake Shields - it will be a minor tragedy.

Former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres looked great in his UFC debut, beating Antonio Banuelos by unanimous decision at UFC 126.All three judges scored it 30-27 for Torres, who may just be fighting for the UFC bantamweight belt by the end of the year. He looks like he's back.
"I did what my coach told me to do," Torres said. "I followed the game plan. ... I know I broke his nose. I heard it crunch a couple times."

I must say, this is pretty goddamn cool. Four angles of a fight at once? The ability to listen to fighters' corners instead of Goldberg's carnival barking for the latest shitty-ass Jason Statham movie? Built-in DVR controls? I have a boner. This is probably a good indication of where we're going to see the UFC's PPV model going in the next five to ten years, and I like what I'm seeing so far.

Featherweight Chad Mendes was "stoked" when he was offered Japanese star Michihiro Omigawa for his UFC debut this Saturday at UFC 126 in Las Vegas."I think for me it's a perfect matchup," Mendes said Monday on The MMA Hour. Weekend Results: Severn, Escudero, Magalhaes Earn Victories
On a weekend where former NFL star Herschel Walker made news for picking up his second MMA victory at the age of 48, MMA's own elder statesman Dan Severn won his 97th fight on an Elite-1 MMA event in New Brunswick, Canada.
The 52-year-old Severn put Scott Fraser (3-2) away with an arm-triangle submission to take the promotion's heavyweight title, extending his win streak to eight and improving his record to 97-16-7.
